JaNae Armogan was born with a Twin sister in Toronto, Ontario on May 23, to an American mother and Guyanese/Canadian father, giving her dual citizenship. With a love for the arts, she began singing in talent shows, but quickly turned to acting after seeing her idol, Jada Pinkett-Smith in "A low down dirty shame".
During high school, JaNae joined the Improv and Drama teams, as well as landing the lead role in the school production of "CABARET". She later entered the International Modeling and Talent associations (IMTA) competition in Los Angeles in 2004 and took home four awards including "Actress the year".
JaNae has done print-ad modeling for Canon photos, Canadian Tire, Jerry's Skating world magazine, music videos for Jared Letos Thirty seconds to mars, and new & upcoming artist Ashraf, as well as television shows such as "Queer as Folk", and "Tilt". INTERVIEW FROM YIPPYKYA WEBPAGE;
Q: What makes you unique from other actors?
A: What makes me unique is that I'm a child of God... My Faith and the Creativity that God has bestoned upon me is what makes me unique. I believe this is what I was born to do, I know in this case I'm not going to stand out and I don't mean to I'm just sharing what I feel is real, this is where my heart smiles.
Q: What advice/warning would you give to others trying to get started in acting?
A: Don't walk into this industry head first, do your research this goes for anything you do modeling, acting, real estate, etc... you have to know all angles of the box inside and out.
Q: What is the driving point for your pursuits in acting? How long do you give yourself before choosing another path in life?
A: I'm a firm believer in never giving up because there really is no time limit in your passion, when things are slow you can keep yourself occupied, but see it also depends on the person.
Q: Which actors would you like to work with the most, and why?
A: I have too many to name but to start Colin Farrell, Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, Don Cheadle, Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Jada Pinkett-Smith, just to name a few because you can tell not only are they very talented individuals but they LOVE WHAT THEY DO, it's not about the fame and I feel I can learn alot from them.
Q: Who do you feel has been the biggest role model in your life?
A: My Mother because she has taught me to NEVER GIVE UP for something I want, she taught me that no one said life was easy and when you work hard enough for something... you get it.. she is my first and favorite teacher.
Q: What are your other interests outside of acting?
A: I'm very open minded
Q: What do you do to keep on top of your game in acting?
A: I role play with my family to keep my characters sharp, I've learned different accents to create different characters, I go to improv games... all sorts of stuff depending on my mood.
Q: What is one thing you can not live without?
A: My FAMILY
Q: Please describe the best day in your life to date:
A: WAY TO MANY TO NAME... and still experiencing them.
